How do you sign the letter E in BSL?

Passive hand open, palm towards you. With your dominant index finger, touch the tip of your passive index finger. No movement. E is the 5th letter of the two-handed BSL alphabet.

The sign, demonstrated on video by a Deaf teacher.

Second vowel, second fingertip. E is the most frequent letter in English, so this touch should become automatic.

You will fingerspell E in names like Ella, Ethan and Emily and places like Edinburgh, Exeter and Ely. Practise it next to D and F, its neighbours in the alphabet.
