How do you sign the letter U in BSL?

Passive hand open, palm towards you. With your dominant index finger, touch the tip of your passive little finger. No movement. U is the 21st letter of the two-handed BSL alphabet.

The sign, demonstrated on video by a Deaf teacher.

Fifth and last vowel, last fingertip. Once A, E, I, O, U sit on the five fingertips, a third of English is already in hand.

You will fingerspell U in names like Uma and Ulysses and places like Uxbridge and Ulverston. Practise it next to T and V, its neighbours in the alphabet.
