How do you sign the letter B in BSL?

Both hands face each other with the fingers curved: the fingertips of one hand rest on the fingertips of the other, thumbs touching too, so the two hands form a rounded shape. No movement. B is the 2nd letter of the two-handed BSL alphabet.

The sign, demonstrated on video by a Deaf teacher.

B suggests the round belly of the letter. Keep the fingers relaxed and curved rather than straight, or it starts to look like a clap.

You will fingerspell B in names like Ben, Bella and Bobby and places like Birmingham, Bristol and Bath. Practise it next to A and C, its neighbours in the alphabet.
